DESCRIPTION:Attendance: in person\n&nbsp\;\nThis workshop addresses the com
mon challenges researchers face when translating complex philosophical tho
ught into written form. Often\, philosophical writing suffers from being '
writer-centric'\, i.e. focused more on the internal process of discovery t
han on the reader. Because the discipline deals with high levels of abstra
ction\, failing to account for 'reader-awareness' can leave even a solid a
rgument inaccessible.\nOver three 90-minute sessions\, we will diagnose an
d tackle these recurring issues. We will move beyond sentence-level correc
tions to focus on higher-order concerns: fragmented structure\, opaque arg
ument development\, and frictions caused by differing writing cultures (Co
ntinental vs. Anglo-Saxon). Participants will learn to reverse-engineer su
ccessful texts to identify the rhetorical strategies that create clarity w
ithout sacrificing depth.\nThe workshop is practical. You will work direct
ly with your own drafts to identify personal writing blind spots. We will
also address academic pitfalls such as 'zombie nouns' (nominalizations) an
d the ineffective use of passive voice. You will leave with a concrete too
lkit for producing philosophical writing that is both theoretically rigoro
us and highly readable.\n&nbsp\;\nThe course will be led by Martin Sedláče
k from the Department of Language Studies at the Czech Language Institute
(Czech Academy of Sciences).\nThe in-person training will take place in th
e FLÚ meeting room. Capacity is limited to 14 participants.\n&nbsp\;\nRegi
stration is required to attend the seminar.\n&nbsp\;The course is primaril
y intended for junior researchers at the Institute of Philosophy\; however
\, due to available capacity\, we are opening the training to all.\n&nbsp\
